BASKET-WEAVE SUGAR BOWL

An oval bowl of basket-weave construction all over, including its base, and with an inverted and lobed rim plus a braided handle arching over it for holding and carrying from above. Red earthenware, with a white slip painted over in green and brown tones, and finished with a yellow glaze. Running along the mouth is a chain of lobed leaves, punctuated by rosettes at each juncture. Other rosettes decorate the junctures of the row of leaves on the foliated rim. Stands on a twisted foot separately manufactured and stuck to the body. The base is also glazed.
